Meet Our Executive
Brenda Phinney was elected Chair of the Schomberg Community Farm for 2020. Brenda has been an active member of the Farm for four years and she lives for gardening and all things nature related. Last year she had a warren of baby bunnies in her garden and she carefully worked around them. Eight little babies, so sweet! She is a "let nature take its course" kind of gardener, always amazed by everything that plants etc. do!
Cheryl Fisher was elected the Farm Manager for the Schomberg Community Farm in November, 2019. She is serving her 7th term on the Executive.
Cheryl brings over 28 years of local volunteer experience to Schomberg Community Farm. A co-founder of the King Township Food Bank and Founder of the Schomberg Scarecrows, she is passionate about community, and enjoys the challenge of getting something started. She also lead the trailblazing in Pottageville of the Millennium and North trails. You may see her also helping with the Schomberg Lions, the Dufferin Nature Connection, The Schomberg Village Association or The Schomberg Horticultural Society. She received the Special Recognition Award from the Township of King in 2007 and the Queen Elizabeth 2nd Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012. Nature and healthy food are two essential factors in her life so The Farm is a perfect fit. A part time library assistant in the King Township library system, for over fifteen years, you may see her in the Schomberg branch from time to time.

Wesley Killman will serve as Treasurer in 2020. Wesley was elected Chair of the Schomberg Community Farm in November, 2016-2017. For 2018/2019 Wesley took on the role of Secretary/Treasurer.
Until age 14, Wesley was raised on a dairy farm in Jarvis, Ontario. As such, he understands the importance of fresh, organic, sustainable food and hopes to raise awareness of this through his involvement with the Schomberg Community Farm.
At age 19, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces and served for 4 years in the Regular Officer Training Program. He received an honourable discharge in 2007 when he began a career as a Special Constable at the University of Toronto. In 2015 Wesley left the University of Toronto to take a job working for York Region. He holds certificates in Project Management from the University of Toronto and a Certificate in Labour Studies from Mohawk College. He has also studied at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology as well as Athabasca University, and is currently working towards the completion of a Bachelor of Arts Degree.
Wesley first moved to York Region in 2006 where he now lives with his wife Meghan. He is the Father of 2 small children, Cordelia and Charlotte.

Ann Rockley was elected Media Manager in 2017 and continues this role through 2020. Ann has also taken on the role of Secretary in 2020. Ann has a passion for nutrition and health. She is keen to help others discover the wonderful aspects of The Farm as a community hub, an oasis of organic community gardening, and a focus for gardening and health related workshops.
Ann toils by day (and many nights and weekends) in the computer industry, as CEO of an international high technology firm she created 30 years ago with her husband Charles. She brings her knowledge of social media and communication to the role of Media Manager.
Ann moved to Schomberg with her husband and daughter in 2000 and they have been active members of the community since.

Oleg Leontovych was elected to the Events Planner role in 2018/2019 and continues that role into 2020. Oleg, originally from the Ukraine, grew up with generations of gardeners, more than 80% of his childhood land was devoted to growing food. Remembering vivid memories of his youth back in Ukraine he wasn’t really into sports but got most of his physical activities from pruning the fruit trees, picking berries or tilling the grounds for the next crops planting. He wandered around the forests, looking for edible mushrooms and medicinal herbs.
He is currently running GardenHowTo.com to help health-conscious families to grow their own food so that they have peace of mind over the vegetables and greens they eat daily. He creates video courses and provides guidance with Q&A in the online community.

Donna Parrish was elected Membership Secretary in 2019 but has been active in the Farm for 3+ years volunteering in a variety of capacities. She almost single-handedly planted and maintained the new Ruth MacDonald Butterfly Garden. Donna has been a professional graphic designer for 40 years • lifelong textile and paper artist • Dufferin Marsh Nature Connection volunteer for 28+ years and Albion Hills Community Garden volunteer for 7+ years. She is currently a Master Gardener in training. Donna is the original creator and art director of SIDEROADS magazine and spent 30+ years as an environmental activist and designer at NOW magazine.
